Sistemas Ecos Project 2013/2014

Bringing together contemporary art, experimental music and live cinema, the project sistemas/ecos promotes a series of workshops in April 2013, entitled ecoLAB, and an exhibition scheduled for the period from May 11 to June 18, 2013.

The aim is to stimulate discussion, reflection and fostering to the convergence between art, design and environment.

The projects generated by ecoLAB integrate the exposition, next to guest projects by Maurício Dias & Walter Riedwig, Sonia Guggisberg, Lucas Bambozzi and Rejane Cantoni and Leonardo Crescenti.

The activities take place in Praça Victor Civita (Rua Sumidouro 580, Pinheiros, São Paulo, SP), with free admission.

ecoLAB

Focused on the development of works that explore green technologies in artistic projects, the ecoLAB laboratory is geared for students and members of NGOs. Its goal is to stimulate the formation of collective works proponents of projects which development happens in PraçaVictor Civita under the guidance of artists Cristiano Rosa, Denise Adams, Dudu Tsuda, Lali Krotoszynski and Luiz duVa.

On the agenda, issues relevant to an understanding of the demands for sustainability and environmental problems of São Paulo. This laboratory process intends to generate a critical mass capable of thinking alternatives to the use of media and materials, as well as ways to collect and disseminate data on urban pollution.

exposition

Recognized artists in contemporary setting international sign the projects (some of them previously unreleased) occupying the internal space and the open area of the Praça Victor Civita: premises, mapping devices and site-specific projects. The proposal aims to bring together strands and cross circuits, a kind of aesthetic biodiversity. The works of these artists are mounted next to the works resulting from ecoLAB, in a design that seeks to encourage not only the coexistence of different trends in contemporary art as dialogue between generations.

research

The project sistemas/ecos emerged from a local survey by Sonia Guggisberg.

Working on her PhD in Communication and Semiotics from the Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP – FAPESP Scholarship), she works as artist, videographer and researcher participating in group shows and individual lectures and workshops since the 1990s. Much of her work is site specific and video installation.

Today she develops an artistic and doctoral research project called Subsolo urbano e social. The object of this survey is the subsoil in its different aspects including contamination.

The hypothesis is that the underground stories, buried, never end even when buried and relegated to invisibility once they survive as residues from the past and how cognitive metaphors redesigning networks of relations in the city. The research arose from the recognition that over time such images and stories resisted residually so definer some communicative social relations and policies that guide the city life and that to create a rapprochement with the gaps that remained in their places we need to think a way to place them on the edge of reality.

The subsoil contamination occurred in Praça Victor Civita was part of this research and will be from this that the project Sistema Ecos arose
